06 Nov Original Slim Chickens location to get a makeover Nov. 9-16
A little over 12 years ago, a little restaurant called Slim Chickens was born at 2120 N. College Avenue in Fayetteville.
We leased a pretty run down building that had been considered by some to be a cursed location on one of the main streets in the city, and fixed it up the best we could at the time.
We painted the roof purple, and the lava-rock siding gray. We built a patio. We cleaned and scrubbed that old place for what must have been months, and hoped that if we cooked fresh chicken to order with our signature breading and hand-made sauces, great food and service would help us overcome our modest building and furnishings.
And man, did it ever.
That old building became the foundation for a #lifechangingchicken phenomenon, and we’re still amazed at how much it has grown since we started way back then.
But now, it’s time to show some love to the place where it all started.
For the week of Nov. 9-16, the original Slim Chickens will be closed for a major remodeling project to try and bring it up to par with our newer locations, and to improve the dining experience for those who stop by to see where Slim Chickens got its start.
It will be a dramatic transformation, with upgrades to the building inside and out, a new roof, new signage, and major improvements in the kitchen that will do wonders for how quickly and efficiently we’ll be able to serve our customers.
We’ll be updating our social media with photos of the progress as the project moves along, and we want to invite everyone out to the grand re-opening we have planned on Monday, Nov. 16!
In the meantime, please continue to visit us at our other Fayetteville locations, at 637 Joyce Boulevard Suite 20A and at 3562 W. Wedington Drive.
