Chicken wing franchise brings lofty expansion goals to Houston

Fayetteville, Arkansas-based Slim Chickens has set its sights on Houston for major expansion, with plans to open 20 restaurants in the market over the next five years. It’s kicking its Houston entrance off with a Katy opening at 23320 Mercantile Parkway on Nov. 2.

General Manager of the new Katy location, Nathan Woodard, said Slim Chickens plans to grow its presence by opening three to five locations per year until capacity is reached in Houston. The brand has already selected sites in Spring and Rosenberg, and plans to open in the first quarter of 2016. System-wide, the brand hopes to increase its national presence from 25 storefronts to 600 by 2025.

Slim Chickens is expanding corporately through Houston, but working with franchisees to open seven to 10 restaurants in Austin and other parts of Central Texas.
